Opportunity to get out of the house this Friday February 26th

Doors open at 5:00pm and this is an Outdoors/Indoors event. Think Apès Ski so dress for the weather. There will be four fire-pits going for those that are more comfortable with outside events during Covid. There will be hot drinks available to help with the chill and the beer poker will be available too. Nuremberger Sausage Sandwiches on a German Hard Roll from Resch's Bakery in Whitehall with house-made hot mustard and fries will be available from the kitchen and our chef, Linda Hall has baked us a German Chocolate Cake.

Social time is from 5:00 to 6:30pm, please use this time to fill out this month's beer quiz and socialize.  The meeting starts at 6:30pm and ends when our guest timer has finished their beer. The beer tasting starts at 6:45pm and last call is at midnight.

Now for the good stuff:

We will feature some new beers from our friends at Homestead Beer Company out of Heath, Ohio. Joe Wilson from Homestead will be on hand to talk about the beers. He will also have a couple of giveaways as door prizes. A sampler flight of the four beers is $8.

Bier vom Faß: this Friday:

Featured Homestead Beers:

Pioneer Pilsner - 4.7% ABV

The Germans have as many variations on the Pilsner as Americans do on IPAs and this one is a real classic – designed to conform to the Reinheitsgebot this Pilsner starts bitter and finishes clean. The all-German malt bill and all-German hops combine to create a beer as close to Germany as you can get without getting on a plane.

Sun Kissed Wheat - 5.4% ABV

Homestead started with a giant dose of wheat, a tiny smattering of hops and a classic American Hefeweizen yeast – to match those mild notes we brought along a huge helping of citrus peel and coriander. What comes through the dense, pillowy head is a light, sweet, wheat beer with a mild maltiness, a short bitter and a delightful hint of orange, spice, clove and banana to round out the beer.

Tenpenny Amber - 5.4% ABV

Homestead balances sweet, caramel malt with a mildly bitter, fragrant hop nose. Underneath those flavors lurks a powerhouse yeast that contributes the classic ale ester profile rather than the too clean flavors in modern beer. Tenpenny Ale is unpasteurized and never filtered, it’s beer the way it was intended to be.

Galactic Heroes IPA - 7.4% ABV

Erupting with West Coast IPA notes of grapefruit, juicy orange and lemon, this towering beer lays it down thick and heavy without being a palate wrecker. With a subtle balance of sweet and alcohol to balance out all the hop notes it’ll put a big old smile on everyone’s face.

Beers that should be Poked:

Wooly Pig Farm Brewery - Rye Dunkel 5.5% ABV

Wooly Pig's Rye Dunkel is a full-bodied Bavarian brown lager that is brewed with 15% rye for a spicy complement to the malty sweetness.

Saucy Brew Works - El Churro Mexican Chocolate Stout 8% ABV

This stout from Ohio City's Saucy has notes of sweet vanilla, cinnamon and cacao flavors of the favored Spanish pastry called. These favors come together in a rich full-bodied stout with a little kick of Mexican chocolate.
